Red rooibos tea
Red rooibos tea comes from the Rooibos plant found in South Africa.
Red rooibos tea is also called: bush tea, red bush tea, South African
red tea, or red tea. It has a naturally sweet, (without sugar added)
nutty flavor. Red rooibos tea is so popular in Western Countries
because of its high antioxidant content (which protects the body
of free radicals), flavanol, it’s very low in tannin and is
caffeine free.
Being low in tannin sets it apart from other teas which means you
can drink it all day long without any unpleasant side effects. And
if you are pregnant or are nursing, this tea is safe and healthy.
There are so many minerals such as potassium, copper, zinc, calcium,
magnesium and iron in this tea that it can almost be considered
a mineral supplement.
Other great benefits from drinking red rooibos tea or red tea, is
that is can assist with nervous tension, relieves headaches; helps
in digestive problems and allergies, and of course builds the immune
system. For centuries in South Africa, they believed that by drinking
this tea you can calm colic in babies, cure allergies, assist with
asthma and clear up skin problems such as eczema. With all of these
benefits it is pretty clear why Red Rooibos Tea is gaining popularity
worldwide.
The rooibos plant is actually a green plant with green leaves. The
plant only becomes red by going through a fermentation process which
turns it a dark red color. The rooibos plant is picked in the summer
months by hand to ensure they pick the best plants for the highest
quality tea.
One of the fun parts of drinking the red rooibos tea is that kids
love it and you can replace fruity drinks loaded with sugar with
a tall glass of this tea. It makes great iced tea too, so enjoy
every single glass!
