Tea party checklist

There are many occasions that would be perfectly celebrated with the holding of a tea party. At the same time, there are many different ways to go about holding one. The basic overall types however, can be summed up in two categories. There is the modern method and traditional method. The modern method is basically just an evening with a few glasses of cold tea out on the porch or the Veranda. Nothing fancy, just a relaxing time with friends or family. The traditional tea party, however, requires a bit more preparation, but at the same time is a much more lasting and memorable event.

The traditional tea party is served sometime between noon and six o’clock in the evening. When preparing for it, make absolutely certain that you have everything that is necessary to make the experience authentic. Begin with your serving ware. You will need a sugar bowl, a china teapot, some small china cups, china dishes, and preferably one silver spoon per individual that will be attending. You will also require some nice napkins. If possible, make these napkins material, not paper. Family initials are generally embroidered upon the napkins.

Now that you have your basic materials, you will need to provide the amenities. First, make sure that the sugar that is in the sugar bowl is cubed form, not grain. Then, provide a few appetizers. Most individuals go with some form of small sandwiches, cut into squares or triangles with the crust cut off. As for the type of sandwiches, it really doesn’t matter, but it is strongly suggested that you stay away from cheap meats such as bologna. Go with something strong in flavor, such as meat with a dressing of some form of cucumber sauce or cheese.

Before we go any further, there is the most important aspect of the tea party, and that is the tea. You can get your basic black tea from the supermarket or grocery store, but it is suggestible that you go with a classy tea. There are several types, the overall being the black, white, Oolong, and green. Green tea is generally not a choice for tea parties, nor is white. Oolong and black are the norm, but if you choose black, don’t get the cheap black. Find a special blend of black tea. Research your tea greatly before making the choice.
Next, prepare your sweets. Pretty much anything will do. Traditionally, scones are the choice of high profile tea parties, but this is not a must. Something as simple as sugar cookies or chocolate chip cookies will suffice. A true delight for this part of the tea party, however, is a dessert dish that is cream filled or has cream cheese icing on it.

Lastly, there is the environment. If the tea party is an inside event, find the most artistically expressive room in your house and use it. Art, be it modern or traditional, provides a perfect feeling for a tea party. If the party is outside, use a gazebo or make sure that it is held on a deck or porch with a beautiful view. Atmosphere is vital to the perfect tea party.
Though the tea party may not be number one get together option in the United States, in such countries as England or Britain it is still considered a mark of society excellence to hold one. Impress your friends by presenting the traditional tea party for any special occasion.
