Tea party customs and traditions

In the American culture, the concept of a tea party has long been thought of as a child’s playtime event, usually consisting of one or two little girls, a toy tea party set, and several stuffed animals and dolls for gifts. The tea party may have evolved into this, but its’ origins are steadfast in history for hundreds of years.

Of late, the concept of the tea party seems to be making a comeback in the United States. At first the high-class wealthy crowd mostly practiced it, but of late the average blue-collar family individuals have taken up the concept. The only surprise is that this did not come to pass sooner, as it is a great premise for a basic social get-together.

There are many instances where a tea party would be a wonderful event. One example is if there is a new person in the neighborhood. Instead of taking them a cake and standing out in the sun talking for hours, send them an invitation to come to a private tea party. This provides a more comfortable setting for you and makes them feel as if they are attending a big deal event. It is a good idea to also invite others in the neighborhood, if for no other reason than to make it seem like a major social gathering.

Another great reason to have a tea party is to celebrate a particular occasion. Let’s say, for example, that a good friend has just graduated beauty school. Most beauty schools will not have a big graduation ceremony. This would be a great gift to honor a friend with. Invite them over, invite other family members and friends, and have the house decorated up with a congratulations banner, streamers and balloons. Do not tell the graduate what you have planned, but simply invite them over for any old reason.

Perhaps you have wanted to have a baby for quite some time and have had little luck. You’ve talked to all your friends about it. Then, one day, you take a pregnancy test and it comes out positive! What better way to announce it to your closest friends than at a tea party? The tea party is the perfect environment for your announcement.
You see, the options for celebratory tea parties are endless. You can even have one just for the sake of having it. All it takes is some nice tea, black, white, Oolong or Green, some cups and a few chairs. The tea party is not just for English or British royalty anymore.
